Getting a driving licence in Dubai is not difficult as most of the people think,we need just practice and the patience.Below are the step by step guidelines for your journey towards getting the driving license:
Step1. Selection of Course
First of all you need to decide for which vehicle you are going to apply for the license.For Eg LMV/HMV(manual or automatic).Below are the no of classes depend upon the issue date of your home country license:
No license from your home country:40 Classes
If the license is 2-5 years old:30 Classes
more than 5 years :20 Classes
Step 2. Registration and file opening
Please go to nearby driving institute and open the file .After you receive the learning permit from RTA,you are ready to drive the car under the supervision of your instructor.
Step 3. Pre Evaluation Test
If you choose 20 or 30 classes course,you need to go for the Pre-evaluation test .Please carry your RTA Book and learning permit along with you for the Test.
Step 4.Lectures
Attend 8 lectures on different topics at your respective driving institute branch.Lectures available in 3 different language(English,Arabic and Hindi/Urdu).You can choose either to start your practical training first and simultaneously go for theory test or you can pass your theory test and then start your practical training.
Step 5.Practical Training
Book your training classes from your respective branch.On the first day of training,please meet the scheduling staff to collect your training sheet and don't forget to bring your RTA book and learning permit.
Step 6.RTA Theory Test
Book you theory Test and makes sure the theory test and your training time will not clash.Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your test.

Step 7.RTA Parking Test
RTA Parking test consist of following test:
1.Garage parking
2.Parallel Parking
3.60 Degree Parking
4.Hill Stop
5.Emergency Stop
Book parking Test-As Soon as your training starts & you will know your training schedules and you need to plan your parking test.The Test Date usually come around 1 week from the booking date,book the test based on your training schedule so that parking test is schedule around your 12th class.You can book your parking test from your driving institute.
Attend the Test-Attend all the above mentioned test as scheduled.You need to pass in all 5 parking tests the same day to move to the net step.If you fail any one of the 5 test then you need to pay for the test and the 4 extra classes and if you fail in 3rd attempt ,you need to only pay for the parking test not for the classes(no need to take extra classes in 3rd attempt).
Step 8.Book RTA Road Test
As soon as you have passed your parking test,you can book for your RTA Road Test,the date for which usually comes around 2 weeks from the date of booking.You can book your road test through RTA Call center 8009090.Please use the days before your test date to complete all your classes and pass the assessment test.If any of the above will not met the test,the test will be postponed automatically without any charges.
Step 9. Assessment Test
After completing the mandatory classes,you need to book the assessment test.If you got good,very good or excellent,you have passed the test and you can attend the RTA Road test,If you get moderate or weak result in your assessment test then you need to take prescribed extra classes.
Step 10.Book Highway Training
After Completing the required classes,book your 2 mandatory highway classes from your driving institute.
Step 11.Book Night Classes
Book your 2 mandatory night classes through your driving institute and attend the same at least 48 hours before the road test date.
Step 12.Attend the RTA Road Test
Attend your book RTA Road test as scheduled .Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled test time at the assigned test center.After passing the road test go to the RTA and collect your driving license and if you fail,you will have to repay and book for the 8 mandatory training classes.
Step 13.Collect your Driving license
Please bring your original emirates id and Passport copy with VISA Page to collect your drivers license.
